Tuesday 23rd
Salve a tutti,
I’m dedicating most of my time to v1.3 development and testing and almost everything is ok now… so a little more forward testing and backtesting to find the right setting and we are ready. For that reason I decided that (drum roll)…
Tuesday 23rd at 9AM EST time
Crescendo Version 1.3 will be public!
You’ll receive an email announcing that with all the details. So don’t miss it!
It’ll come with a little gift: the “MTF trend indicators” so that you can apply to your charts, use it for your manual trading and even use it for your EA development.
I’m updating the manual and recording a video (maybe two) to explain more in details what’s new.

Good morning Andrea, super, it’s even quicker than I expected
Well done that man!
Great

Here in Rome 23 is considered a lucky number too…
Like many others have already said, there are not enough kind words to describe your dedication and efficiency managing this project. I’m confident the v1.3 will keep up with your and our expectations.
All the best,
Paolo
I’m sure about that. Thanks a lot Paolo… and let’s see if 23 is really a lucky number… not only in Rome
Andrea;
I have been running V1.2 for two weeks all default.
I have entered 50K for the initial balance and risk 1%, lots size – 0.01, server time shift – 0, Crescendo trades lots of 0.5 and number or trades is comparable to your live account (24 trades in these two weeks) but the profit generated for these two weeks only $250.00.
Everything on the chart looks OK (Authentication, Status, and time to next check)
The lot size you’re using is good for a 1K account… $250 on a 1K account is 25%… very good result for two weeks!!
Try using 0.5 lots (set risk to 0) as written in the manual
Andrea;
Thanks for explanation. I have went over there manual once again. One setting I am still not clear is the – Target Profit – Is it calculated automatically or should I enter value manually? For example for 50K initial account balance – Target Profit – $200.00?

please stop your game. You have been discovered. In some posts you appear to be very smart and giving advice to us in how to deal with 30% DD that bothers you day and night . In the other hand in your last post to Andrea you pretend that you don’t understand how to calculate profit percentage for you 50k alleged account. How come? What you are doing here is not working.
Benhamida
WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THINK I’LL HAVE PROBLEMS TO SLEEP UNTIL THAT DAY, YOU ARE…….I DON’T FIND WORDS TO SAY WHAT YOU ARE. WELL, FANTASTIC!
23 WILL BE OUR “D” DAY.
SHAKE TRADERS OF THE WORLD, WE ARE ARRIVING!
Hi Andre,
Great news. In Singapore, the number 3, and 8, are considered auspicious numbers, so 23 is good!
Looking forward to the drum roll !
This is great news! You are to be congratulated.
Thanks for releasing the new version on my husband’s birthday.
(Exeter, Missouri USA)
it’s a sign
A sign of blessing – and future prosperity to ALL those from the world over that are in this Crescendo community, and jointly support you with their encouragement and faith, … we do believe you can do it, Andrea and crew!

I have my EA set to check every 12 hours at 5am and 5pm eastern time here in the U.S. What is the best time to have the EA check the market? Please tell me. Thanks in advance.
Hi Andrea
That is great news. Thanks again for your amazing work. My live account is now up 19.86% since October 11th (http://www.myfxbook.com/members/oilbiz/crescendo/55982).
Maybe it will be at 23% till Tuesday
Hello Martin;
What is your broker, your results are exceptional.
Ed
If you could drop the name directly:
edwardiz@telus.net
thanks
Hi Ed
It’s Activtrades (Interbank Account), I am very happy with them.
What time do you have your EA checking the market?
The time shift function doesn’t work correctly on my setting, so I’m stuck to 12 am/pm Central Eurpean Time which obviously works well.
That growth curve is incredible. Looks like you missed out on the bad dips. I have to say that mine has become nice and steady after a couple of deep drops early on. It is the way crescendo recovers that gives me confidence in this EA and that is simply using the default settings. Just imagine what it will be like with the new version.
Andrea you have well and truly single handedly woken a community and we are SO priviledged to be a part of it.
COOL !!!!!!!
Hi Andrea and team,
Thanks for your dedication!!!! As you know I’ve been developing my own personal ea (for my own use) with a very accomplished programmer… As you have stated it is very difficult to get an ea to perform as one does manually… I’ve come to believe that your ea logic and approach to portfolio management for an ea is most likely spot on.
Thanks, I am excited for 1.3
Cu
Jim
Hi Andrea and Crescendinos,
The Crescendo is amazing but YOU are the creator of that Fantastic EA and on top of that you are working hard to make it even better. Your are not only a mathematicien but also a genious.
Thank you in avdvence and may all the strenght off the universe be with you on every single thing you are doing.
To a very SPECIAL man: ANDREA.

Hi Andrea, I am very happy with crescendo so far but I have 1 query.
Since the 29/10 I have only had 4 trades placed. I am using the
default settings and haven’t modified them at all, the hullma
indicator is also listed so I assume everything should be working. I was looking on your live statement and there were 28 trades. Is there any other reason for the lack of trades?
thanks
Gary
Hi Gary,
it seems that your EA is not running properly. Can you see the text interface or do you only see the smiling face?
Andrea, Do you mean the text interface on the left hand side, the clock is counting down between each 12 hr time slot. Yes I see that as well as the smiling face
If you see the text interface on the left then the EA is running fine.
Don’t know then why it’s not trading. Did you change the settings?
The settings are set to the ones you have described in the manual. Do you think I should uninstall and then reinstall it?
…maybe something screwed up your MT4.
Are you one of those with build 228 or still 226?
i have just downloaded build 229 today
229?! I still have 226 on Alpari UK.
Which broker?
go markets, its an australian broker http://www.gomarketsaus.com/
Yes, I had, … like Gary, … an upgrade again today for MT4. It had just upgraded to build 228 about 2 days ago, now today it went to build 229. (Go figure?) I hope this works with all our Crescendo EA versions as well as the new upcoming Crescendo V1.3. (great anticipation!)
FYI, this is a Boston Technologies provided MT4 in harmony with FXCM LLC (USA, now, … formerly FXCM LTD UK. Entities switched October 23rd). I access the MT4 through a Remote Windows Desktop Connection on my MacPro OSX 10.6 laptop, to the, above mentioned, remote Windows (2003) computer that has the B/T MT4 platform within it.

this is awesome can’t wait…crescendo certianly makes me money…thanks for your hard work and dedication Andrea it’s so refreshing to have the real deal…
Ciao Andrea,
Sooo Glad to hear v 1.3 is coming next week!!!
I have now 3 demo accounts running with Crescendo currently. 2 accounts are very similar to yours, but one is always a bit different. It is located at GMT, so same with Alpari. You have 3 short positions open at the moment, but the account has an extra GU long, which came in 11-18,12:00. It was like this yesterday, too. Is this a good sign or bad sign? Or just different, or something is wrong with my setting?
Hi Andrea,
I am just back from a dinner reception… and was really happy to see your post with the the fantastic news of the release of 1.3… Great.. and just can’t wait till Tuesday….Thank you once again for your untiring effort in the development of this amazing EA which runs on autopilot.
Brgds.
Farouk.
Excellent news about v1.3! Will the new MTF indicator support automatic suffix detection? I have been bummed that the Cruscotto indicator doesn’t.
Hi,
the indicator can be applied to any symbol so no problem with suffixes.
Also, after version 1.3 is public, I’ll work on Cruscotto to make it work on brokers with suffixes as well
Hi Andrea,
Thanks for all your great work. In Chicago the #23 is a very lucky number. ( Michael Jorden #23 )
Thanks,
Dan
Andrea,
If you’re taking a look at Cruscotto, I have one request. Is it possible to allow us to put the currencies in any order? That would be very helpful.
Cruscotto is one of my best indicators. As soon as I got time I’ll build an EA around it.
Putting currencies in a customized orders… well, not a trivial task as “drawing” objects in MQL4 is not an easy task. There’s a lot of coding behind Cruscotto interface. But I’ll try to find a solution… probably not for next version but maybe for a future one.
I would wait for that EA as well. Could be very lucrative with cruscutto to have that as an EA. Great !!!! I will look forward for that version as well as V1.3 GREAT WORK
Thanls so much this can change my live style you coyld not believe it !!!
Regards
FredW
Great news Andrea !!
One question, with the holidays approaching is it safe to run Cruscendo V1.3 continuously thru the holiday season or should we try to close all trades and shut it down for a couple of weeks in December- January ??
thanks for this great EA !!
This is a good question… well version 1.3 should be safe to trade even on those periods thanks to the trend filters, but I’ll tell you more when I’ll have done with the backtests.
Don’t forget Thanksgiving holiday in U.S. next Thursday and Friday, 25 & 26 November when markets will be closed.
This will leave GBP/USD currency pair pretty much dead in the water on those 2 days. V1.3 will only get the chance to work on this pair beginning Monday, 29 November.
I’ll be on vacation those days, until Tuesday. So the market will be closed for me as well
Thanks Andrea!
You are the hardest working guy I know!
Don’t tell to my wife… I work from home and she sees me less than if I’d work in another country
But I’ll take a little rest after version 1.3 is out
Yes, Andrea, you take a well deserved rest !
We will let Crescendo V1.3 do all the work !!
cheers !
Hi Andrea,
Fantastic news and thanks a million from me to you, family and team.

Congratulations for your excellent work, since 13th October I am up 18% on a live account!!best EA ever!
Ciao, e grazie
My 30% DD has been hit this evening. This is my biggest loss since summer 2008 and my biggest loss with a robot since I started to trade the Forex. When I look at the live account on this site, I see only one thing: LUCK. If someone wins a lot and another loses a lot with the same EA, that means nothing else than luck. And luck is not a trading skill. I hope that v1.3 will be different and won’t repeat the same stupid decisions of v1.2.
Hi Fred.
Are you FrEd or Ed ?you sound like Ed. Happy trading.
I am sorry for your loss.
I was writing about that few times, we all have to assume that if only STP Loss in EA is set by Max DD and in this case 30% we will be hit with it again and again. Nothing can and will change this fact. Only way to rectify this problem would be to develop EA with smaller Max DD – STP, my preference would be 5 to 10%. Anything else is just a smoke and mirrors and has nothing to do with trading. Our group resembles the herd wildebeests, everybody hopes and prays that lions will not eat him. As a group we’ll survive and there will always be a new guys coming to this forum and being ecstatic that they just made 10 or 15% in a months. Later on when they will be hit with losses they will blame EA.
Ed
I notice you did not mention settings. Each individual can choose there own settings with Crescendo.
Is it possible that you made a mistake by choosing the wrong settings?
Cheers,
Gordon
I used the default settings. Andrea offered to help me to change settings but I got no answer after sending the files requested.
I’m tired to see all these greetings for a EA so risky. Everyone here doesn’t seem to realize they are just lucky.
I’m confident that Andrea is going to create a very good EA, but v1.2 was a premature work and I paid a high price to know that.
Fred,
Andrea admits that the default settings are risky until a reasonable amount of profit is achieved.
Further investigation lead me to the myfxbook page where I soon realised that the default settings were still high risk even though a profit of 70% and more had been achieved.
So I made adjustments to the settings. You could have done the same.
Cheers,
Gordon
Yes, I have my part of responsability in this loss, especially when you read one of my first post in this forum where I told the robot was doing stupid things and was going to suffer a big DD quickly. I was right but it’s not my habit to stop an EA.
I cannot lower the lot size (I’m already using 0.1) and that 30%DD is a too big loss for an account with 10000 euros and 0.1 lot size. My others EA suffer at worst a 10% loss under the same conditions.
I don’t want to increase the DD value to give some space to the EA because that means only a bigger loss. And I don’t want to lower the DD value because the EA is supposed to trade with this limit. I thought this DD would be a very far limit, but when you see how the EA trades, you realize that you go straightly against the wall.
Hello Gordon;
People are crushing their account on the default settings which were supposed to be the best and tested and retested and forward tested. Fred is in my opinion right. STP Loss in the form of Max DD – 30% puts this EA in a league similar to any scalper.
Let’s see, you will generate realistically 5 to 15% per months and every three months will get hit with 30% loss. So after 6 months your account will be in the same place like on the day one. What happens when the gods are not on your side and you get hit with two or three such loses in the row or lets say 4 or five in first 12 months. Do you really think that such losses can’t happen first day when you go live, I believe that they can. There is nothing in the settings to stop it. Prevent the worse and you won’t have to hope for the best.
Like they say the worse trade or DD is always ahead of us!
Do you want to base your trading on hope?
Ed.
Ed,
Your last two remarks say it all.
“Like they say the worse trade or DD is always ahead of us!” So is death, but does that stop us living?
“Do you want to base your trading on hope?” Everything related to human advances is based on hope, otherwise no project would ever get started.
Cheers,
Gordon
My opinion on these negative comments from some people here is:
If you’re dissatisfied with the performance of your Crescendo, shut it down and move on to something else. There is nothing to be gained by complaining in this forum.
People like Gordon & Mort, myself, and most of the rest of the Crescendo users accept FX trading for what it is: a risky game. Whether you’re trading manually or with ANY expert advisor, this game is risky.
Bottom line is, if you’re not prepared to accept the risks inherent in this market, then don’t trade.
Best of luck whatever you do!
Cheers!
Stephen
Ed
If you are here for a bashing campain against Crescendo then show us your live account show us your 50k account. If not please stop bashing this wonderful invention that could be useful for all of us. We are taking our chances here and the risk is very well calculated.Do you have a competitive product you want to sell us. Or do you want us just to quit and go home.why don’t you look at the result the 150% profit in nine months. give it up Ed
Benhamida
Ditto, Benhamida!
I agree with YOU . . . 100%
Cheers!
I agree as well. I have been running v1.2 and never come close to the maximum DD. I’m currently up over $300 on and $1,000 account. I’m excited!!
Great news Andrea!
I will open a bottle of Champagne on that day!
So i will say in Russian: Ogromnoe spasibo! Thank you very much!
Let the drum Roll Andrea! I am quite confident that this will be the best EA ever created and made available to the CRESCENDOS’ family. I applaud you in your dedication, honesty and integrity Andrea. Each of my 3 accounts are up by 25 % respectively. Andrea! because of your programming knowledge and love for your fellow human beings, you have made it easy for me to download pips with crescendo while I sleep and have good quality time with my family. I am loving it and may the spirit and blessings of God be with you Amen.
build 229
Hey Gary and Andrea,
Every since MT4 build 229 came about my platform has been crashing. have you seen this problem? What can I do to resolve this issue? Open to suggestions.
Thanks
I haven’t got the chance to test on build 229 still.
I’ll try to do that Monday. But for now I suggest not to update to build 229 if no necessary as we still don’t know if this thing can have an impact on Crescendo.
Hi Gary, and Andrea,
Since I had an auto update about two days ago from Build 226 to Build 228, on my FXCM MT4, I had no problems, of which I was aware. Now today it updated once again, to Build 229. I have tried about all I know what to do, but I seem unable to restore the TEXT INTERFACE, ever since Build 229 updated.
Since you have build 229, Gary, have you been able to get the TEXT INTERFACE to display?
I do have the SMILEY on both charts, and the JOURNAL states that Crescendo was “Loaded successfully.” but the text interface is missing after removing, reapplying, shutting down the MT4 and rebooting, re-entering Username and Passwords et al etc etc. …. still NO Txt Interface.
I wonder how one can revert back to the old Build 228? I can’t seem to find the answer. Maybe Boston Tech – who has the MT4 in my FXCM account can put the old Build 226 or 228 back on the remote desktop of my VPS, I don’t know. I keep thinking it’s something I have done that I have not detected yet.
Also, this maybe a common thing, but before BUILD 229 erased everything (I blame 229 anyway) I would almost always have to restore the TEXT INTERFACE when changing the time period of a chart. Some times it would reappear on its own, but it was definitely a delayed action of sometimes from est. 20 to 45 seconds. Does everyone experience that?
(Exeter, Missouri USA)
Don’t worry. This is probably because the market is now closed.
We are testing it under 228 and 229 now.
Thanks.
Andrea,
Right! It finally occurred to me after trying time after time, the market was closed. Dah-h-h!
Ciao Andrea,
I admire your dedication to this project. Very wonderful indeed
and so very appreciated.
I have 2 questions to ask Andrea:
1) When we overwrite v1.2 with installation of v1.3 will Crescendo continue to open trades in the same direction as current open trades?
My Crescendo has been selling GBP/JPY since 02 Nov at low price between 129 and 130 and bought GBP/USD at high 1.6272 at that time.
Result: Big draw down again without 1 winner since. Only winners were my manual trades, but I prefer not to manual trade.
I’ve now set Frequency to 6 as YEN hits 134 this afternoon!
2) Should I leave Frequency on 6 for now?
Thank you.
Regards,
Stephen
Hi Stephen,
This is a discussion held on other sites too, so you are not alone.
I feel Crescendo must be allowed to trade itself out of a bad situation.
If I was in your position, I would reduce the trade size. But if I did that I would also reduce my profit target accordingly.
I would reduce the frequency to 5 so as to allow the EA to keep trading but at a crawling pace.
I would seriously consider increasing my DD% to allow the EA more room to breath – abit like feeding it extra oxygen.
I would consider doing any combination, or all of these steps.
Best of luck,
Gordon
Hello Gordon!
Thank you for your good advice.
With respect to Trade Size and Target Profit, I adjusted those from the defaults from the very first day (just to be a bit more conservative.) I set them to 75% of the default settings so, they are 25% lower.
Would you consider this to be low enough?
As far as increasing DD, as it has been averaging between 8 and 10% – I’m not prepared to reduce it (yet.) I believe my DD would be much higher if I had not previously adjusted Lot Size and Take Profit settings lower. In fact, I think a default T/P of 3 instead of 4 would be a better default setting for Crescendo anyway.
As far as dropping frequency to 5 from 6 to let Crescendo “crawl” – I have actually done that in the past. Some times it traded at market check and other times it didn’t. But because of the current calendar, i.e. U.S. market CLOSED Thursday/Friday – 25/26 November, immediately after the release of V1.3 – I think I’m going to leave V1.2 on Frequency 6 until I’ve installed V1.3 and then take it from there.
There is no question that beginning around Monday, the 29th of November, Crescendo is going to take on a New Life and I am really looking forward to this!
Til then, I’ll do some manual trades ensuring that my account continues to profit in the meantime. (I’m actually a very good manual trader . . . I just HATE doing it now. In my ‘old’ age, I’ve become very lazy.
Thank you again for your input (and all the other posts you make here, which are always helpful and I’m sure appreciated by all participants.)
I’d give advice too, but I don’t feel I’m really qualified enough to do that.
Cheers!
Stephen
Andrea,
Thanks for the good news and your good work.
I am on Windows 7 with Administrator permission. My Crescendo still crashes when trying to close long standing trades. It requires a system restart in order to stop the crashing and successfully close the positions. Are we going to face the same problem with V 1.3 or you have fixed this one for sure?
Also, please tell us more about the MTF trend indicators and explain how to use it with the Crescendo. An example or small demonstration will be helpful.
Thank you, A.
Hello Amnon,
Is your Windows 7 crashing? Or, is your MT4 platform crashing?
This sounds like a problem with your Windows 7, not with the MT4 platform or with Crescendo software itself, (although I may be wrong about this.)
Also, I have found that most EAs work better on MT4 platforms, which have been installed on the Windows ’98 operating system although they do work on Windows 7. In fact, most VPS providers still use Windows ’98 for their customers as Windows 7 still has issues running some softwares (like MT4).
I may be wrong about this (Andrea can correct if I am) – but my advice would be to try installing your Crescendo on Windows ’98. I think this ‘crashing’ problem will stop.
Please advise here for all the participants what result you get. This is an important issue, which can help everybody.
I hope this works, Amnon.
Stephen
I use it on Windows 7 64bit and no problem.
I run it as an administrator. I’ve found that fixes a lot of problems under Windows 7 and Vista.
More info here: http://oldtreepublishing.estreamdesk.com/forums/8061/topics/5990
MT4 crashes on Client Terminal program. It has been happening consistently every time Crescendo closes trades. I use a US demo account from Forex.com (GAIN). I have been running now for two weeks under Administrator and the same crashes occur. I also run on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. This problem may be specific to certain brokers’ demo accounts or certain Windows systems. I don’t know.
Andrea, It looks like this problem persists on some Windows 7 systems for some people and not on others. Since it doesn’t happen on yours it was not debugged and resolved. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT IT WILL MIGRATE TO V 1.3 AND PREVENT ME FROM TRADING ON LIVE ACCOUNT. I’ll be glad to send you screen shots and whatever you need to debug this problem. Just tell me what to look for and what to do.
Thanks, A.
Hi Andrea,
I just have to chime in with the rest of the thankful subscribers to your wonderful work!!!
Could you please include a manual download and install instructions with v1.3 for those of us using FXCM’s VPS. I’d like to install it myself without asking for FXCM’s help, I’m thinking ‘don’t wake a sleeping dog here’.
Adding the “MTF” as a stand alone indicator on the first release for our manual trading is fantastic and we didn’t even have to ask for it twice!!! Many thanks…
Humm an EA using Crusotto alone sounds really cool, can’t wait for that one either!!!
Bruce H
That’s really great news Andrea and we have all been eagerly awaiting version 1.3.
Thanks very much and take care,
Kaz
Hi Andrea
Great news, I’ll be on vacation so I’ll be able to get it early.
Two questions, you say that your testing on gbp/usd, what about gbp/jpy will it also work on this pair?
Second one, What build will v1.3 work with? I still have 226 and am waiting to know if v1.3 will work with 228.
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication,
Gary K
Adrea
Thanks for the upcoming v1.3
I have been waiting for it to go live trading with.
Cruscotto EA! Wow I have some ideas on that one.
Man that opens the flood gates of deep thought.
From a man that prays for a way out of poverty, to be able to give in abundence.
Thank you!
Todd
Hi, I have been using version 1.0 earlier on and had similar problems with DD, I changed to v1.2 and changed the risk_percentfrom 1 to 0 to be set. That helped a lot !!! Result are now much better and 0 seems to be working great. As Andrea informed in his manual to set it default to 0. I wanted to see with more trades what the EA could take on a 1% risk. Well i had 2 DD of 30% quickly within 2 weeks because of that. So best thing is: demo test it for 1 or 2 months with standard default settings risk to 0 and trading freq to 4. that should solve majority of the problems.
I believe with v1.3 we have a better sound EA working to avoid these 30% DD. As the tests showed the DD will be much less on the trend trading. Still v1.0 and 1.2 do work very well (if set to default) and leave it as is.
Thanks Andrea. Looking forward to v1.3 for more pairs to trade with and in trends.
Regards,
FredW
If my demo testing of 1.3 goes as well as we all think it will I will probably go live after 2-3 weeks. My only live account which is about 700 USD is presently at FXDD Malta. I am concerned using Crescendo on that small of an account.
A friend recommended using a Micro account at Instaforex. This is from their website and show the tiny increments we can trade in. In fact you can open an account there with $1.00 (But why would you want to!)
“Why does InstaForex use 10000 lot instead of standard 100000 one?
InstaForex company gives an opportunity to trade at Forex market using three types of accounts at once: Micro Forex, Mini Forex, Standard Forex. In order to make such a technology possible a nonstandard 10000 lot was established, which at the deal by 0.01 lot gives the point price of 0.01 USD, id est the absolute minimum, which allows the accounts’ owners of about 5000 – 10000 to control their risks effectively. At the same time, the lot size of 10000 makes the calculations of point cost convenient at deals opening.
Let’s have a look at data below:
0.01 InstaForex lot deal = 0.01 USD pip price
0.1 InstaForex lot deal = 0.1 USD pip price
1 InstaForex lot deal = 1 USD pip price
10 InstaForex lot deal = 10 USD pip price
100 InstaForex lot deal = 100 USD pip price
1000 InstaForex lot deal = 1000 USD pip price
Ease of calculations and the opportunity to combine three levels of Forex trading in one trading account makes InstaForex lots an undeniable advantage of InstaForex trading conditions.”
I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with InstaForex, or knowledge pro/con of them?
I’ve had my 200 USD Crescendo demo account with them and it seems to be doing fine with the small account size.
Thanks for anything you may offer.
And thanks again to Andrea for all your hard work!
Rod
Hi Rod,
I am IB for instaforex. Please signup at http://www.giantfx.com Small accounts are ok. Let me know if you need any help.
Thanks.
Mark
Hi,
usually I won’t allow any advertising here, but if you have a “special” treatment for Crescendinos then I won’t delete the message
Andrea,
My optimism regarding Crescendo was crushed today as my $5000 account hit 30% drawdown and Crescendo closed all the open trades for a loss of about $1700. Since the EA had closed profitable trades totaling about $700 since I went live about 4 weeks ago, the losses incurred today reduced my account balance to $3950 or a lttle more than a 20% overall loss compared to my opening balance. The EA is running with all the recommended settings (frequency=4, Risk=1.0%, Max Total DD=30, etc.) yet it entered short the GBPJPY on 10/26/2010 and continued adding short positions up to a total of 8 positions when they were all closed out by Crescendo today. I am very disappointed as I had high hopes for this EA.
It sounds like v1.3 might have better safety features to protect our capital against an extended big move like the one that got me but I wonder will it be enough ? Even if it does and I continue trading with the new version I figure it will take several months just to get back to break even. How very, very disappointing.
Rob
Seems you don’t have the recommended settings there Rob.
Rob, you hit 30% draw down (most likely) because the Risk setting, which you say you had sent at “Default” of 1.0%, is actually not correct.
The correct Default Risk setting for Crescendo V1.1 and V1.2 is 0% (Zero per cent.)
Sorry about your loss, but it does demonstrate how IMPORTANT it is to check settings.
Stephen
Hello Rob;
I really feel bad for your loss.
If the new version of Crescendo will have default Max DD set to 30% and no other real hard-wired STP Loss it will hit this Max DD again and again. We’ll have two ways to stop it: lower the Max DD or not to trade it at all. All rest is just hope against inevitable. In reality all who will use this EA long enough, will be faced with these losses. Is not a matter of if, but when. It is so obvious but I bet that most Crescendinos has never accepted this fact.
I have EA with which you can make no less than 20% per month but you have to risk constantly 50 to 100% of your account’s balance. If you are lucky you will survive months and make hundreds a day. So more or less it is the same story.
Ed.
Hi Rob and Ed,
I have a lot of GJ sell orders still open as well, with a considerable drawdown. But I manage to survive up to now because I have a second set of Cresendo EA’s running that takes only buy trades. So, what I loose on the first set with standard settings freq=4 I win with the second set with freq set to 0. And now I am only hoping (yes: hoping) that I can get out (and stop v.1.2) with my balance equal to the balance I started with. Now I am in profit in my balance but not enough to compensate for all the potential losses on all GJ trades that are still open.

Hello FrankB;
I have setup V 1.2 on G/U and G/J with buy only and all setting default and G/U and G/J with sell only with different Magic #. All if these four charts on the same MT4 account.
I will monitor it for a while to see how it works,
Are you saying that you can counter-act loses on first instant of Crescendo with the second one? Losses on the first one will still generate up to 30% of the account’s balance while the second instant with buy only will be able to generate some profit but in comparison to the first one they would be rather insignificant, or am I missing something. Without manual control of the lot’s size second instant of Crescendo can’t hedge loses of the Max DD of the other instant. It can be used as a nice addition to make overall profitability better but probably opens account to more risk as well. Pure math, no free lunches, more profit = more risk.
Providing that Crescendo would not go crazy on me with such setup on single MT4 the real problem is still a Max DD. If I can’t set it to the level no more than 15 or less %, and at the same same time still generate profit allowing me to recover such loss in reasonable period of time (4 to 6 weeks) I will not trade this EA. So what that I will have months when you bring in 25% when next months you will get two or more hits with 30% loses. Straight line to the poor house.
If you would like to work together on testing new version, drop me the line at – edwardiz@telus.net. I have VPS so I could run probably up to 4 instances of MT4 to demo forward test V 1.3

I just got a message from a free signal service blog:
GBP/JPY just bounced off its channel resistance line on both weekly and 4-hour charts. This should indicate a short trading opportunity.
If you’re having any short positions, keep in mind that the channel support 131.50 level should be good for taking profits.
Maybe worthwile for those who are hoping and praying to close GJ sell trades with profit.
Frank
Happy Weekend o you all
Crescendo just closed all my open orders for both pairs a 300$ profit
Thank you Andrea

Hi Andrea,
I have a question that you may have already answered:
As you release newer versions of Crescendo, are you also updating your live account with these new releases?
Thanks,

Good question… I wanted to point that out but I always forgot about that.
The actual live account will continue to trade with the “old” version. We are about to open a new one running version 1.3 that you can monitor as you do now with version 1.2 one.
Andrea,
Can i ask you. Is the demo version with 1.2 working with risk percent set to 0 or to 1. I am not sure what is used for the demo at this moment when 1.2 was used.
Thanks
FredW
I don’t know which demo version you are referring to but I always run Crescendo with risk percent set to 0 as I want to have control of the lot size.
Thanks
That answered my question yes. I was referring to the one you have running through Myforex and or Alpari what we all can see on statistics
Good ! i have been setting the 1.2 version few weeks ago also to 0 and that improved a lot i have to say.
Thx Andrea.

FredW
It’s a live account that’s why I did not understand to which account you were referring to
Dear Andrea,
I am really looking forward to the release of Crescendo v1.3 on Tuesday 23rd November.
I have been using v1.2 live for 13 trading days and during that time it has given me an 8.49% increase to my starting balance (using default settings)as suggested in the PDF manual.
All my open trades were closed in profit today, so all in all,….feeling good here (smiles).
Thank you very much.
Kind regards,

Some of you, like myself, have experienced crashes in MT4 immediately prior to crescendo closing a trade. However, I have had MT4 crash on other occasions, nothing to do with Crescendo.
MT4, build 228 was recently released, with main fixes as follows:
1.Fixed errors in the operation of the internal mail system.
2.Fixed crashes of MQL4 programs caused by the use of hacking protection.
3.Added translation of the interface of the client terminal into Swedish.
4.Fixed errors reported in crash logs
So item 2 may help with this!
Hi Andrea
in V 1.3 will it work with iamfx VPS ?I really need it to work
best regards
benhamida
Hi!
Please make sure the logfile resets itself or starts a new logfile. I have just heard that the logfile grows indefinately from a fellow member of mine in my forum. We are using the latest version of Crescendo, 1.2.

Atle
Hello Fred,
You are obviously trading on a mini account, hence the 0.1 lot minimum trade size.
As soon as I realised the problem I moved to micro account and reduced my trade size to 0.05 per $10,000 deposit. I did keep the DD at $3,000 and I adjusted the Profit Target to $20
So far, I haven’t come anywhere near the $3,000 DD I have allowed.
My view is that trading forex is a business. If I was going into business, I would set aside the amount of money needed. I would
be aware that if the business failed I would lose all the money.
Now, in business you would need to spend some money on stock. I wouldn’t spend all the money, but some of it. I would then see how things go.
If they went badly and I lost, I would try and learn what I could do to make sure it didn’t happen again.
But let say it did happen again, I would try again to learn from my mistakes.
Hopefully, I would learn before all my money ran out, but if not, then my business has failed and I have lost the money that I set aside. I was prepared for that, anyway.
Most people treat forex completely differently to the way I do, but I had the benefit from being advised by a professional trader who has become a multi-millionaire over the last ten to twelve years.
He said that when you are told not to risk money that you cannot afford to lose, that MUST apply to your entire trading fund.
Cheers,
Gordon
Thanks Andrea for your tireless effort with Crescendo…I am eagerly awaiting V3..
