PimpMyEA.com New Project!

As I wrote a few days ago, I decided to start a new blog. In reality it a new project. With the launch of the Leo Trader Pro, a lot of comments about it have been posted in Crescendo’s blog. Many are asking for support, sharing opinions, ideas, tweaks, etc. That is a great thing, but I’d like to keep Crescendo’s blog mainly related to Crescendo. For that reason, I decided to start a new blog about automatic trading in general, and specifically about automatic trading with MT4.

I already had in mind to start a project like that, but I was planning to do it later this year. Your interest in automatic trading made me decide that now is the time to start this thing and I dedicated the last days to set up the first part of this project.

This project is named PimpMyEA.com

As you can easily guess by the name, the main idea behind the project is to help you use your EAs at best. The website will contain a lot of information like review, statistics, demo and live account performances, backtest performances, as well as tweaked settings to make your EAs (commercial and not) work at best.

The first phase is the blog. There, you’ll already find reviews of the EAs I like and suggest you to use to build your portfolio of EAs as well as a list of the indicators that I developed in this years. Some of them are already freely downloadable.

PimpMyEA.com is not a simple spin-off of the Crescendo’s blog, but it’s a totally new project that will evolve fast. Read the first post here: http://www.pimpmyea.com to have a more in depth idea of what’s about to come in the next days, weeks and months.

As usual, you can feely comment everywhere as I am hoping that you’ll continue to follow me as you’re doing on the Crescendo’s blog. All my posts about things not related to Crescendo will be posted in PimpMyEa.com from now on. So, I wait for you to join me there as well.

In that direction also goes my friend Rob Casey. We spoke about that in the past weeks and he told me that he was working on something. Today, he’ll hold a webinar about how to recognize Forex scams. This will be a 3-step training that I’m sure will help you.

If you’re interested on that free training you can click on the link below and sign in the page:
http://www.pimpmyea.com/rob_casey.html

I’ll be there for sure as Rob has got a lot of experience in that, and I’m sure there’ll be something interesting to learn.

After having said that, I will wait on you at www.pimpmyea.com!

    Hi Andrea…
I hope this site will be great and we can discuss our problems, new ideas…but i have one suggestion u have to concentrate at Crescendo instead of other EA’s..U recommended us Leo trade but from the 1st day until now I could not get any trade..EA is running 24 hours without trade and Their feed back is not helpful to us too.I sent many mails and getting reply from them but total useless feed back..then I tried old version insetad of updated one I got only G/U trade once a day without SL and TP So Now I am thining to ask refund next week…

    • I’m focused on Crescendo most of the time as it’s my “creature” and I still spend most of my day working on it.
I’m also already working on new EAs and ideas. More on that on the new blog soon.
I’m sorry about your experience with Leo. My personal experience with it is very positive for now and I think most of the people are profiting from it.
I’ll try to personally help you with that. I’ll send you an email so you can let me know all the details needed.
Let’s move all the discussions about Leo to the new website. There’s a page dedicated only to Leo Trader Pro (http://www.pimpmyea.com/?page_id=23).
About to send you my email now ;)

I am with Peter aas I have not been able to receive signals at all. I look forward to your help on this Andrea and will go over to the new blog to continue there. I do hope this side effort does not slow you down AND I hope it does not turn into a marketing effort that others have done with us receiving emails on great products that you get commissioned on but have no personal experience with. Your support would be much better than what i have received from the Leo support people so far… same replies and takes way too long for response. I want to believe you are the real deal… please do not destroy that! Thanks… Jeff G

        • Hi Jeff,

I already sent you a couple of emails to help you solve the
          problems ;)

My focus is always on development, because is what I like most :D But also I like to write on the blog and the new blog should not take much time as most of the things will be things that I’d write in the Crescendo’s blog. I’m simply trying to keep things separated.

A few new things but I got most of them at a good status of dvelopment.

    Hi Andre “the dude”,

Glad to hear we will have next version of C soon… I had one platform perform rapid fire again… I went back to 1.2 settings and set trendscore to 5… freq 1… 26 trades in 1min… I have simply removed any alternative sets from my platforms… Look forward to next version.

    Andrea!

Wow, you are really morphing out and PimpMyEA website looks very exciting & promising.

The VPS service idea is smashing. Will this be something that you will host or will your code tie into other broker servers and interface with the browser? If you will be hosting the VPS I’ll sign right up as it would go a long way to alleviate many of the trade differences many have experienced.

I’m not concerned that your blossoming out will compromise Crescendo at all. I think that savants need many outlets to express all their creations!!!

Just don’t forget to get your down time for rejuvenation!

Many thanks for sharing all your achievements, and what a start for 2011!!!

I think until next version of C… this is how I manually swing trade… so I think I will experiment with defining trend manually for C… and then let it do its thing… So in this example, I have been long gy for some time… I confirm zigzag low… with daily cci being oversold… then I get a blue bar… new trend defined… then I will enable C for buys only and see if C can out perform my manual trading… ie I buy and stay with trade until sell signal… whereas C will be utilizing it 60pip step… exiting and reentering etc… I will continue to post pics of C in action with this process… should no one object.

Andrea :Whenever you don’t see the text interface it means something is wrong and the EA is not working

    Hi Andrea,

I had Mt4 issues all is well now, I have text interface… I have freq=1, mtf trend=false, manual trend=true, and 1 or -1 depending on pair… However, C is not taking trades… Suggestions? No trades 2 different brokers.

    Thanks

    • If they are demo try setting th freq to 0. It should trade immediately.

If not, try to reset settings and and simply change the freq, the manual trend to true and the trend direction.

        • Peroni
        • January 7th, 2011 3:22pm

Yep… I should of mentioned I already tried that… still no trades… It is crazy because any time I set freq to 0 it always takes a trade immediately. Not sure what to do… I have smiley face and interface… It is strange cause 2 different brokers… iamfx and citfx.

          Anything in the MT4 journal?

            • January 7th, 2011 4:24pm

thnx Mort… but nada in the journal… and I don’t use random entries… maybe I’m just going to have to reinstall C…

    • Peroni
    • January 7th, 2011 6:12pm

Well, reloading C did not work… this is very bizarre… one thing is cerain I have used C since day 1… I have never had a problem getting it to take a trade. Now, I can’t and C is indicating all systems go on 2 platforms. Oh well, unless “the dude” or “the detective” come up with an idea. I’ll just go back to my original plan and wait for 1.4.

Andrea, stop messing around with me… I know you’re do something on your end via the server!!! LOL, just kidding.

    • :D Try one thing more. Install a new fresh MT4 platform and install Crescendo there. See if it loads there :)

But I promise I’ll stop messing with you :D

Hello to all crescedoies out there
Andrea i think i have a solution for the big DD ,and its go like this>
lats say we toke a long position and the price just went to the short side , every 60 pips the EA is buing at market price ,so if the price continue to go to the short side we will have a few open trades with a big DD,
but what if the EA will open a buy stop position 60 pips before the market price ,so we continue the shot with one or max two open position and when the market changed to long its trigger al the buy stop orders.
the first buy stop shuld be dubble disstance.
i hope i made my self clear if not i will try to explaine better
    thx moshe

      • Mort
      • January 7th, 2011 11:00pm

Nice idea, not sure how it reduces the DD though and relies on specific price action. Indeed if market went long and triggered your buy stops and then went short again before your tp position reached, your DD will be worse.

If the buy stops placed above the tp, then all well so long as that is the current trend. Often it is that spike that gets you out of the DD and the trend continues, in this case to the short side.

That’s if I understand you correctly.

    • January 8th, 2011 3:58pm

Hey Mort ,it reduce the DD by not opening new trades in market price,so you stil go to the short side with your original trade ,and not few open positions .
now if its spike so max another trade open and not more ,the idea is to reduce opening trades at market price .
and stil win when the trade is going to our direction.
    thx moshe

    Hello FrankB;

I have read your post that you use four charts for C.
So you use as a pair Sell only with magic #s inputed into settings corresponding to GU sell only and GJ sell only and for the second pair Buy only with magic # corresponding to GU buy only and GJ buy only?
Have you change the frequency from “4″ to something else and all rest on default?

I guess prove is in the pudding, it works for you!

    Thanks,

    Ed

      Hi Ed,

I am using freq=4 with both sets opening new trades on 0:00 and 12:00 GMT+1 (order_step 60 pips, standard Crescendo 1.2 setting). My max DD is set to 50% for both sets.
I had a max DD close to 40% in oct/nov, now it is not more than 5%.

Since I always have buy and sell trades open, my equity will always be lower than my balance, but as long as my balance is growing faster than my DD I am happy :-)

Please read Alexanders’s post on best settings, he suggests a nice approach to keep your risk low in countertrends, I think it is an improvement of the close_on_countertrend approach that is now implemented in Crescendo 1.3

Hi Ed, you wrote on 6th Jan 2011:
    Hello Piplady;

Are you running C on VPS? As much as I like to use VPS it will give me double trades from time to time.

    My response:
    1. Assuming your observation is correct in that it is the VPS that is giving you the double trades, I have something important for you and all readers that use VPS, especially Windows platform VPS. I think others might have written about it but it is important to repeat it.

    2. Most if not all modern Windows platform allow 3 connections into it. Let’s call it session 0, 1, and 2. When one is physically in front of a Windows machine, the session that is logged on is session 0, also known as, console.

    3. When one uses Remote Desktop Connection (for the techies: mstsc) from one’s workstation to one’s VPS, one will actually arrive by default logged on to the VPS as session 1 (or 2 if session 1 is already logged on by someone else). One will never by default be logged on to the VPS as session 0 a.k.a. console.

    4. That means, if your VPS is already running Crescendo on say session 0, when you log into the VPS the next time, by default, you will end up in session 1 or 2 and not session 0. And you will think to yourself that Crescendo is not running and you will logically proceed to set it up not knowing that session 0 is already running Crescendo.

    5. I always make sure that I always conduct Remote Desktop Connection to my VPS by NOT using the default method but by specifically asking for session 0 a.k.a. console. That means I always make sure I don’t log into session 1 or 2 and ended up with more sets of Crescendo which would of course open double trades.

    6. How to specifically Remote to VPS’ session 0 a.k.a. console?
From workstation running very modern Windows platform like Win7, Vista and Win Server 2008, Click:
Start, Run, type in “mstsc -admin” and press enter, then select your VPS and so on…

From workstation running older Windows platform like XP or Windows Server 2003, Click:
Start, Run, type in “mstsc /console” and press enter, then select your VPS and so on…

    7. When I am on my VPS, how do I know how many sessions I am logged on to and what session am I in now?
Right click on the taskbar (by default, it is the bottom bar of the screen), left click on start task manager. When the “Windows Task Manager” opens, click on the “Users” tab and discern the information there.

    8. For those not using Remote Desktop Connection to log into one’s VPS, but using “logmein.com” from the browser (the free utility is more than adequate), remember that you are by default logging into the console (session 0) which is just great! I use logmein.com when I need to check another machine anywhere in the world even if it is not powered on, as long as it is still plugged into the wall socket. This way I can circumvent proxy servers at workplaces, etc. You should see how many IT gurus use logmein.com to do their work.

I am a B2B computer consultant by day, in case you are wondering.

    God bless all.

      Hi All,

There is a very simple solution to this problem.
Go to start and then to administrative tools.
      Choose remote desktops.
Usually there are 3 remote desktops default.
      Remove all but one.
Now whenever you log on if there is another session that one will be disconnected and you will be logged on to that session,

      Peter

Hi Peter, thanks for the helpful tip on removing VPS Remote Desktops other than Console (0).

Curious, ForexVPS (WinServer 2003) has NO remote desktops to view/remove. Never mind, I’m very careful to use the correct “mstsc” call depending on my version of WinXP.

        Cheers!

    Francis;
    Thank you for this explanation.

I always check if in the Task Manager/Users I have “0″
I’ve came a few times across situation that though I had “0″ I still have double trades. Even today, I have setup new MT4 and loaded C with four charts and four distinctive Magic # two for sell and two for buy side and I still got two identical trades on one of the charts.
I have checked and rechecked everything couple of times.
Is it possible to load the same EA twice to the same chart and caused double trades to show up.
This setup is a bit unusual but in the past, with C I had double trades with just two charts and it would happen on the MT4 of C only and not on the other MT4s I was running on the same VPS.

Very helpful post. May I add that MS messed up their Active-X stuff between WinXP SP2 and SP3, forcing a distinction between the “mstsc” calls — as you pointed out. To clarify further, those using SP2 need the older “/console”, whereas SP3 needs “-admin”.

    Cheers!

    Hallo RED BULL,

In your comment above you talk about
“For now I followed your suggest, I’m using MTF as v.3 but without counter trend and with gmt shift +7 for both, this really reduce DD.
Furthermore I closed the MFT and trades have been opened in the right way”
Can you be more specific? In earlier comments of you i read that you are still using 1.2 settings with gmt shift 7 on your demo.

The reason i’m asking is that you made me think to shift the gmt to +7. I did the same based on 1.2 settings, but found that directions can change quite quickly between the 12 hours. Therefore i decideded to also add the EA with same settings, only changed the gmt to +1. This gave me quite a few hedging trades in present market. I realise that my risk exposure also doubles this way, but some how i think the hedging should minimise the DD.

Hopefully you can follow my train of thought. What is your thinking on this.

Yes Jef, in december I used v.2 but after some reflections with Andrea I decided to use MTF as v.3 to have a better filter of the trend.
Infact my concern was about DD and the best way to reduce it, for now, is working on timing of market check, and I’ve found that gmt+7 reduces a lot DD because market check happens just before the day open and just after the day close (consider that gmt+7 correspond to 6:00 am and 6:00 pm italian hour); this makes more difficult to stumble in a counter trend.
The enhanced MTF filter is not usefull to reduce DD because is not so solid as it’s based on different time frames instead of different periods, but it’s usefull to reduce the persistance of DD.
I hope this is helpfull for you
      Cheers

    Hi Bull, (a.k.a. Alexandro?)

Is your gmt +7 setting running with lower DD on the long term? Did you check that with backtesting? Or are you running a demo parallel with your +7 setting, but with gmt 0 or +1?
And have you any idea how Crescendo will perform with freq set at 3 instead of 4 (every 6 hours instead of every 12 hours)? I think Andrea has tested freq=3 but I am not sure about the outcome.

Ciao FrankB,yes I’m Alessandro, Red Bull is the nick that loves Jim. :-D )
I’m not doing back tests, I’ve used gmt+7 since the end of september till the release of v3 and I,ve found that difference, so at half december, when we stopped live trading, I used this setting on demo, and now I’m again on live account always with GMT +7. So I’ve found the difference forward.
