Download Link For Crescendo Version 1.4

Salve a tutti,

I got many email asking where to download Crescendo v1.4.

Well the link to download it is in the announcement post (http://www.pimpmyea.com/crescendo-1-4-free-update-available/) but for those who missed that post here’s the link:

http://www.forexcrescendo.com/downloads/Crescendo_v1dot4.zip

I’m about to put it also in the download are along with the automatic installer.

A presto.

Since installing v1.4, it hasn’t traded at all. I installed it on the eurusd with default settings as well.

    • Hi Micheal,
default settings are quite conservative so it may be that it didn’t trade at all. It needs two conditions to open trades: a strong enough trend score and the filtering indicator to be in OB/OS area. And that has to be matched when it checks for the trades to be opened (by default every 6 hours). If both the conditions are met then it opens a trade, otherwise it won’t.

Andrea, with V1.4 trend filtering don’t you think it is better to set frequency to 1 or 0 ? Seems to be safe enough to me ?

    thanks !

    • You’re right. But it also needs more human intervention to decide when to stop it and when to trade it.

    Hi Andrea

Firstly, let me say what a great EA I think this is. It’s basically been profitable since the day I started using it. Even the losses I incurred at the time of the problems in Japan (where I should have turned it off and didn’t) have now been recovered.

I have a question about v1.4. I am trading Crescendo on a Smart Live Markets spreadbetting account. It’s like a mini account but they have adjusted things internally so that 0.1 lot equates to £0.10. I notice that with 1.4, my target_profit of 4.00 and lot_size of 0.1 resulted in a win of £2.98 (on a GY trade). With 1.3 and the same settings, I was consistently getting aggregate wins of £4.00 (on the same account). Do you think that was down to slippage or is the program now doing a currency conversion?

    • yes it should be a slippage problem as the procedure is exactly the same.
Please check and eventually report it to me so I can double check.
… unless you are using the trailing procedure. If so your closed orders value will go from 2$ to “unlimited”.

    Hi Andrea,

Thank you for the 1.4 crescendo..now I am running live all the 5 pairs with IBFX. However, I have one question… I don’t seem to understand or comprehend the value shown on the chart with regards to Breakeven Level. Following are the details of the level shown displayed on the left hand side of the chart:

    1. GBP/USD… I have two orders @ 1.58195 and @ 1.59324, the Breakeven Level displayed on the chart is @0.32965
    2. GBP/JPY … I have one order @ 126.213, the Breakeven Level displayed on the chart is @ 14.288
    3. EUR/USD… I have three orders @ 1.38420, @1.39252 and @ 1.39944, the Breakeven Level displayed on the chart is @0.63096
    4. USD/CHF … I have one order @ 0.83109, the Breakeven Level displayed on the chart is 0.9409
    5. USD/JPY … I have one order @ 79.310, the Breakeven Level displayed on the chart is @8.978

With the above I cannot see the Breakeven line drawn on the chart.

I would appreciate if you could kindly advise confirm whether the Breakeven Level displayed is right or wrong.. is there a bug in the program. I have downloaded twice from your link… I still get the same results as above. Please check and advise.

    Brgds.
    Farouk.

    • I’m aware that the breakeven line procedure can have problems in certain conditions.
But don’t worry as it is only used to draw the BE line not to calculate the closing of orders.
So it’s only a “visual” bug. It won’t affect functionality.

    Hi Andrea
I’m not using the trailing stop feature and I can’t see any sign of slippage. The trade has closed with a profit of 29.8 pips (at £0.10 per pip) giving a total of £2.98.

I have included some log extracts below. Please let me know if you need any further information.

    • :D I know now… You are using £!!!
Ok the new version automatically adapts to the account currency.
You put 4$ in the target profit and it translates it into £ as your account is based on £.
So that you no longer have to “calculate” the equivalent but it does that for you.

In my case, I think it was easier to work with the way it was before. The Smart Live Account is like having a Mini Lot account but based in £. For example, in a dollar based mini account, your staking advice would translate as 0.1 mini lot ($0.10) per pip with a target of $4 for every $1000 in the account. This was easy to translate to my £ based account, as I could set the lot_size to 0.1 (£0.10) and the target_size as 4 (£4.00) for every £1000 in my account. Now, to achieve the same, I think I will have to multiply lot_size and target_size by the exchange rate; i.e. approximately 0.16 per pip to get 6.4, which the EA will then convert back to 0.1 and 4.

    Cheers,
    Greg

    Dear Andrea,

Thanks very much for answering my questions before. Due to the upgrade of Crescendo and the change of my initial balance, the figures of “Closed Orders Profit” and “EA Balance” are not exactly the same as they are displayed on my charts. Are there any ways that we could amend those figures or reset them as zero if I would like to start afresh?

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Benny

    • What you can do (if you don’t have open orders) is change the magic number. At that point Crescendo is like brand new.

HI guys, I know you are working hard behind the scenes. I was wondering when we might see your thoughts on hedging with 1.4. I have a buy only and a sell only running on a few pairs. It seems to me there is probably a more profitable way I just have not figured it out yet. Looking forwad to your response.

    • You’re right.
We trade with Crescendo hedged everyday and it’s probably the best way to trade it.
I promised to publish a sort of guide on it and I’ll as soon as possible as version 1.4 is even better for that.

I’ve been trying to figure out Breakeven Level on the screen display, esp now with 3 GBPUSD legs trying to recover. It’s not a BE price (which would REALLY be nice), it’s not the number of pips from the bid, it doesn’t vary with bid… please advise.

Well, I did it again,’scusi: I failed to read prior posts above re Breakeven Level.

Ok: I just looked at the Live Trading screen for v1.4 Beta GBPJPY. That one shows a valid BE-level price on the display AND a red BE line. Can’t say the same for my three current v1.4 open trades on the VPS. BE values make no sense, and no red BE lines.

I’m glad the display says Tend – Automatic, because I don’t see any alternative. I don’t see previous settings of manual_trend & trend_direction in v1.4

I think this version stays in the Demo account until we see some documentation on hedging and best settings by currency-pair.

      Regards

      • if you set “trend_algo” to +1 (buy only) or -1 (sell only) it’ll show MANUAL ;)

        trend_algo_note5 = “-1 – Manual Trend SELL; +1 – Manual Trend BUY”;

Any progress with “best settings by currency-pair”?

    dear Andrea ,
i am trading the new version live for 2 weeks now. the trailing system works great so far. it is true that it takes a while before all conditions are met..but when..than the direction is almost always correct. what brings me to my question for you Andrea.

what is against setting frequency to 0 . that way as soon as the conditions are favourable C starts trading. why wait for 6 hours ?

    thanks for your advise

    HI Andrea Help please
Lately I downloaded CRESCENDO to my new Laptop and i have a problem with AUTINTECATION because of username which is my email address. The problem is i could not type the key(@) in username space. For exsampel my email is mbenhamida@hotmail.com Crescendo would allow me to type only mbenhamida and would not allow (@ ) to be typed on the username space. this was at VPS OF iamfx broker where my account is. The key @ works well everywhere else. Can you help me?

    • Hi,
what avoid you to type the “@” key is not Crescendo but the keyboard mapping on your VPS. You can do in two way: copy and paste the “@” from within the VPS or ask IamFX support how to solve the problem.

    Hi Andrea,

I have set up C V 1.4 with default settings & it has taken a couple of trades but there appears to be a couple of issues. The main issue is that for some reason when it reaches the profit target it doesn’t take the profit. I have Trailing Note set to 0 which I presume means no profit trailing? It has reached the TP a number of times but so far not closed one trade. Also, I have noticed that if C is in a trade & I want to change a specific parameter the on screen info disappears. Any Ideas?

    Regards,

    Hi Andrea

I have been backtesting the EA using different pairs and one of the best performers is GBPJPY.

I have set the lot to 0.01 in a $1000 demo acct and it produced $136 profit from 01/05/11 to 30/06/11. if I increase it to anything higher the results is less than $136

That is 13.6% return in 2 month or almost 7% a month

Realistically what sort of return should we expect from crescendo on a monthly basis

    Thanks

    Hi Andrea.

I had the problems with FXCM and their suffix “aud” after a pair, and the version 1.4 not recognizing volume correctly.

Have those problems been addressed, as I have an account sitting idle wait for your fix.

    Thanks

    • Suffixes should create no problem.
What do you mean with “volume”?

Presto means soon and soon depends on the things you have to do.

    Please kindly advise.

    • Hi Chew,
Crescendo is not trading and it won’t trade until mid September for safety. Based on our experience we decided to put an option that automatically denies the EA from opening new sets of trades in August and from mid December to mid January. If you want to ENABLE Crescendo and let it trade during that period, all you have to do is set “avoid_low_volume_periods” to FALSE. Be careful.

    Hi, Andrea,

I would like to use this EA at Japanese Yen account, May I use it? and any setting notes required?

    • Sure. The new version adapts automatically. So you don’t have to change the target profit setting.

    Hi Andrea,

Can you explain what the Entry Trend Score is on the C1.4 EA interface?

The Trend direction I understand, it is determined by the algorithm that is selected, e.g. for the trend_algo = 2 the Trend direction will be + or – 5 as explained in the manual. But I can not find how the entry trend score is calculated and what is means?
