Why does the live statement on the blog end with the transactions on 2010.05.20? Where is the account balance on this atatement?

      Hello Norman L.,

Try refreshing the Live Statement page on the blog.

The first entry on the account is 2010 02 02 which was the Initial Deposit of 5,000 British Pounds.

      Trading began 20 days later on 2010 02 22

Scroll the account statement all the way to the bottom and you’ll see

      Most recent trade entered . . .
List of all Open trades . . .

      And below that,

      Working orders (if any) . . .

      below that,

The Summary, which includes Closed Trade P/L, Deposit Amount in USD,
Account Balance, Equity and Free Margin.

If you cannot see these things on the Live Account Statement, then
something must be wrong with your computer.

      Hope this helps.

      Regards,

      Stephen

I noticed that the system has not traded in a long time but rather seems to “sit out” very large draw-downs. I have noticed that the system seems to take rather big losses (for 10K positions)

Andrea, can you please explain what will make the system to take a loss? i understand there are profit targets which seems in the 30 pips area.

    thanks and rgds
    Andre

    • Hi Andre,

the EA trades evaluating the profit/loss of the all the open orders for GBPUSD and for GBPJPY.

For the take profit when all the GBPUSD orders have a value equal or greater to the target_profit, it closes them all. This should be around 40 pips gain in total for all the GBPUSD orders. Same thing applies for GBPJPY. When the total value of all the GBPJPY orders is equal or greater to the target_profit, it closes them all.

The draw down instead is calculated summing up the value of ALL the open orders. So both GBPUSD and GBPJPY. If the value of all of them is a loss of the max_dd (default 30%) then it closes ALL the orders, so both the pairs open orders.

    Hi Andrea
Today is my first day using your E.A..But I am really getting upset and frustrated because your EA open position against the trend..Its opened two position GBP/USD Sell and GBP/JPY Buy..in Both pair major is GBP..and once GBP get weeker its should go to sell..The time your EA open Positions that time market was showing down trend for both pair because GBP was weaker -75..I cant understand ur EA logic I think its using Grid..Or Re-Hedging…My position is still running and its about -85pips without SL..Mean burning account in one day..Let me check your EA few days more If I will face same situation ..I should have to get back my money….
Awaiting your comments..before I burn my account..what should I have to do with your EA…

    • With the default settings the EA is able to handle 10 thousands of pips of draw down ;) You red well… 10.000 pips of total draw down.

So the only way to burn your account with 160 pips down is if you’re using wrong settings. Can you please send me your account balance and the settings you are using so I know what’s wrong and help you in setting it at best? Thanks.

The EA works scanning the market for price an time conditions. When it spots them it opens trade. If there’s already an open order for that pair it’ll continue to open trades in the same direction until the total value of all the open orders for that pair will reach the target_price. Very simple. But everything is based on a strict risk management. That’s why it is crucial to use the right lot_size for your account balance.

It’s a strategy that can have moments when you have a temporary draw down. The average draw down will be around 5-10% (actually you are taking about a DD that with the right settings should be less than 2% so much lower than the average). Give it a try on a demo account and learn how it works. Learn to understand its potentials.

If you don’t like it you’re free to ask for a refund :) I perfectly understand you. Not all the EAs are good for everyone ;)

So, basically we are risking 30% of our account at any time 12 trades are open with both GBP/USD and GBP/JPY. Very risky EA – I’m used to not risking anymore than 1% of my trading account. With this EA, can one reduce risk even more – perhaps reducing lots or have more currency’s to trade without compromising returns too much?

    • You have to look at the broader picture.
In my live account I closed more than 270 sets of positive gains (each of 40$) and never hit the 30%.
So probability has to be take into account. What’s the probability to close in profit, and what the one to hit the 30% DD?

  1. I saw ur statment its until 01st of Oct where is other days if its live statment and ur EA is running?

Andreas, – You wrote – “With the default settings the EA is able to handle 10 thousands of pips of draw down ;) You red well… 10,000 pips of total draw down.”

How can a $10,000 account handle a 10,000 pips DD if one trades .10 lots and each pip is $1.00 trading 2 currency pairs with max 12 positions open? 12 positions at .10 = 1.2lots – each pip will be about $12 – 10,000 pips DD would mean you have a DD of $120,000???????

And in addition, the proposed new leverage regulations in the USA, starting 50:1 leverage, a 10,000 pip DD will get you margined out – each .10lot position will cost about $300 – so a full 12 positions, will take already $3600 in margin – only to leave you with $6400 to go into DD. This EA does not work anymore in the USA with the proposed 50:1 leverage and can not sustain the DD anymore…

    • I mean a total of 10.000 pips between all the orders. And yes I did not take into account the margin but you didn’t take into account that we also have 30% max DD stop. So we’ll never reach 10000 pips draw down. It was just to say that with the right settings you can handle huge DDs in terms of pips. And very very unlikely you’ll have 12 orders open at the same time for how the trend detection works.

If you consider that you understand that we are not affected by the margin used with any kind of leverage.

Anyway… please try to understand the CONCEPT of what I’m saying and not the exact calculation to the pip ;) Thanks!

        • October 10th, 2010 4:34am

        Andrea,

I disagree with you – it does matter hugely what the leverage is. At 500;1 you will be able to withstand bigger DD than 50;1 – big difference!! – You mentioned also that it is highly unlikely that Crescondo will open up all 12 position – But that is exactly what happened in August of 2010 where 12 positions were opened and the account had a 25% DD…..

        • Hi John,

even if opening 12 positions the margin required should be less than 40% of the account. That means that you have 60% left of available equity. But we have a limit of 30% max DD so there’s still another 30% margin left that Crescendo doesn’t use. So the new leverage rulse will have no impact on Crescendo even if opening 12 trades or more.

    Hi Andrea;

Just to let you know I have used the EA for ten days. Closed trades are 13, 11 win and 2 loss – total pips of 483. Three trades still open. Using default settings. It is on demo as in testing phase. I think you noted you will change the time settings so you can selct when to scan the market. Would be good.

    Looking good.

    Hi,

Both of my charts have a smiley face each but none displays the EA Interface. Could you please tell me what’s wrong?

Also, I did a backtest from 1 August to 9 October on both pairs. The drawndowns for the two pair were large, at 15% and 33%. These figures are causing quite a bit of concern. Could you please comment?

    Many thanks,

PS: I sent an email to support before I remembered about this blog. Oops.

    • Ciao Antonio,

puoi tradare con 100 Euro solo se hai un conto mini che lavora con centesimi di dollari invece che decimi di dollari.
Che io sappia solo IBFX lo fa. Altrimenti il minimo sono $1000 se puoi tradare con 0.01 lotti.

      Fammi sapere.

    Hi,
Something very strange happened today. Between 12:01 and 12:05 (GMT+1) the Crescendo made about 200 small sell trades in the GBPUSD pair. All of them with losses between $ 0.2 and 0.6. What’s going on here?

    • Hi Jan,
Probably you have version 1.0 still. Please download version 1.2 from the download page. It has been released today and if fixes most all the issues found since now.

Andrea – Can you respond to this?

    • I already answered that… The fact that has never happened before doesn’t mean that it cannot happen, but it’s not this case as one of the orders was due to a human error (mine) when I updated the version on the server. I wrongly set the frequency to 0 and it opened immediately an order when I installed it. I could have deleted it but I’m confident that it won’t crest any serious issue.

downloading the update (after refreshing the page as suggested) and uploading to my VPS lead to problems for me:
    1. Running the installer did not enter the EA into any of the expert folders of my MT4 platform.
    2. In the downloaded folder Crescendo v1.2 I find the EA Crescendo v1.ex4 but not Crescendo v1.2.ex4 which I may manually install.
Is Crescendo v1.ex4 the correct updated EA here?

    • Hi, yes the name of the expert file is the same as is meant to overwrite the previous version.
If you simply overwrite the previous file, add the http51.dll library and run the MT4 again you should see the “Crescendo EA v1.2″ in the text interface.
That’s the sign that the upgrade is gone fine.

the live account statment is down 2760 pips what chance have we got of making any money what a joke

    • …the same one we always had. The live account has passed through even wrost periods and it’s up 140% :)

    • Divide it by the number of open orders and you’ll know how much is needed to close the orders. For your information GBPJPY has an average daily range of around 250 pips. Less than a couple of average days could be enough to close everything in profit.
This is not a joke is math. And it the same principle that allowed to do more than 140% in 8 months now.

Is the Crescendo file too big to be used with other ea’s? Or is there a bug?
It also won’t place 0.05 trades,( the tadawul minimum ), it only places 0.1 lots, even though the template shows my choice as being 0.05

Hey Rich, I have the exact same issue with Tadawulfx. The EA will not open trades of 0.05 even though your inputs specify lots of .05. I talked with crescendo support multiple times about this and they did not fix it. I suggest changing brokers since the current EA will not work properly with Tadawulfx.

Anyone notice!!! – The account is 27% down – 10 positions open with the GBP/JPY – This EA is financial suicide for your live account….. Andrea’s claim that the market has always come back since February is currently not very reasuring. “”Hoping”" for the market to turn around is just not good trading technique….In addition, with the new 50;1 leverage for USA brokers, 10 positions on just 1 pair takes $2000 out with leverage….Had you started with a 10K account, the default 30% loss would have been reached and closed all positions with a $3000 loss….The EA is finally showing it’s weakness….months of profits go down the drain in a few weeks of counter trend trades…

    • October 22nd, 2010 2:58am

I’ve had to move ALL my accounts over to TDFX b/c of this new stupid USA rule – I’ve yet to load Crescendo on TadawulFX (TDFX) but are you guys saying on a $5K account, you can’t open .05 lots?

Also, if you run both EA’s simultaneously, should I “halve” the $ and lot amounts for each ??

EX: on a $5K account, it says .05 with a target of 20 – If you run both EA’s – should that then be .02 and target of 10 for EACH?

Also, since you now can change the clock, WHAT are we supposed to change it to? Broker time? Server time? Local time? I am -7GMT… what does this mean?? a preferred session time? Mine only checks every 12 hours (#4) setting) – I am not familiar with HULLMA – but it does often go in the wrong way in bull and bear markets… Not liking your open orders here on your Live account – scary – 25% DD?

I like you – and your concept EA – but just want to make sure it’s safe as possible -

    Thanks!

Since 10-04-10 Crescendo as placed 65 trades, 60 wins, 5 loses.
This is with the standard settings. I started with less then $200. So I set my take profit to $1 instead of $4. So at .01 = 10Cents on my micro account. I have only had 1 loss in my last 22 trades. I use GoMarkets

32% DD against balance – trades should have all closed down – They are fiddling with the settings – hoping the GBP comes back – then they will declare victory – see – the market always comes back – This is a bad trading strategy – hoping and praying that the market turn back in your favor…Traders: trade – non-traders: sell EA’s…..

Why keep repeating the same things? If you’ve bought it and are not happy, then ask for your money back, if you have not, and manual trading is what you’re after then don’t buy it. Seems a simple solution.

I’m so disgusted, I had to close my Go-Markets account because I’m from the US. It was doing really well. I have FXOpen also but you have to trade 0.1 with the EA. It won’t trade lower unless you manually trade. I’m at a loss what to do know.

    • Try TDFX – Accepts US Customers – Min Lot .05 – Min Dep $500 Regulated, 1:500, fixed spreads… Great customer service… I run both versions on there and do fine.

      • I will add this – if you sign under my IB (listed above) after 50 trades, I’ll credit your account $100 dollars too…

        Food for thought :)

    Hello,

This is a follow up to the same questions above about what happens to the EA if the platform crashes for any reason which unfortunately does happen from time to time:

I was wondering if anybody has ever had their VPS lock up and/or crash and therefore cause all the platforms to close and then reload using the AutoBoot feature and if this would cause any challenges for an EA like Crescendo that uses a basket closing feature?

In other words, I wonder if the platform closing and reloading if that would interfere with the ability of the EA to do it’s job or cause the EA to lose any data as far remembering what the basket total was last etc. etc.?

Thanks for any help you may offer on these type of scenarios? This is a demo account and would rather find out the answers to these type of challenges before I go live.

Thanks for any help you may offer.

    Mike

I have Crescendo running very shakily with a couple of other EAs.

Is there any problem with this? The open position is about 20% into DD
From reading posts it appears most are in white knuckle territory.

When you release V1.3 will it continue to manage the open trades or will it close all, bash our accounts and start afresh?

I am hoping V1.3 will imprve things as it is hard to keep the faith
    at present

Hi Andrea, Great work, looking forward to v1.3. It loods like Crescendo could also be used with the other currencey pairs, will that be in the near future?
Also cant wait for your “Crescendo’s Advanced Strategies” manual.

I am experiencing what others are, of the EA continuing to place trades against the Trend. When the v1.3 comes out and the EA can switch position with a trend change, will it close out the other positions? Since accts in the US don’t allow hedging. Do you just have to take the loss or what other option are there? I’m getting conflicting results here the fellow who had good results was in a time period when it was doing great is he experiencing the losses Now?

    Hi Andrea

Received your advice today re impending release of v1.3 which is good

It coincided with my account hitting the 30% level which is not good.

I don’t think the results you obtained from back in February have any relevance with what is happening today
What has happened since going public is what is really valid.

I am somewhat concerned that your live account does not show the 10 odd open GBPJPY trades that are currently 1000+pips down? I could not undersatand why none of the trades were closing even though they were going well into profit. The reason obviously is that you do a basket close when the total reaches profit. The problem with this is that if you have an initial trade that goes into a big drawdown and the market trend has changed the pair effectively locks up and just keeps adding to the negative position as is the current case. Hope 1.3 deals with this.

    • I don’t know what you are referring to. The live account has all the orders closed right now.

Exactly, why are mine still all open!
Also now the trend seems to have topped out the system is now buying into a short trend on yjr GBPJPY!

      Hi,

Those 10 trades for GBP/JPY closed out on 3rd November for a combined small profit of $40.00. Check Andrea’s statement of closed trades for that period.

My string of trades opened on the 26th Oct at 126.94 and continued selling into an obvious uptrend. The market now sits at around 131 after topping out at around 134. None of the trades ever came into enough profit to offset the huge initial drawdown. I closed them all to unlock the pair and now it is buying into a downtrend?
